Bangalore - Nammooru (Our City Guide)

Bengaluru, my kind of city

Bengaluru isn’t just India’s tech capital; it’s a state of mind—where monsoon clouds flirt with jacaranda-lined streets, filter coffee fuels big ideas, and strangers become friends over dosas and traffic banter ("swalpa adjust maadi!"). I grew up measuring time by flowering seasons in Lalbagh and lazy Sunday picnics in Cubbon Park, learning that our city’s heart beats somewhere between a Darshini counter and a co-working whiteboard.

Start downtown with the quiet grandeur of Vidhana Soudha and the turreted whimsy of Bengaluru Palace. Wander KR Market at dawn when flowers explode in color, duck into the National Gallery of Modern Art, and catch an evening play at Ranga Shankara. Food? Chase crisp masala dosas at an old-school joint, then hop to a microbrewery in Indiranagar or Koramangala. Don’t miss VV Puram Food Street, donne biryani at a military hotel, and that last glass of silky filter kaapi.

When the city needs a deep breath, we head out. Nandi Hills for sunrise, Skandagiri for a starry trek, or Bannerghatta for a brush with the wild. If dance calls you, Nrityagram whispers just beyond the city’s edge.

And then there’s Mysuru—our regal weekend cousin, 3 hours away. Walk through the gilded halls of the Mysore Palace, watch lamps bloom at Brindavan Gardens, and climb Chamundi Hill for a view that makes the bustle melt. Browse Devaraja Market for jasmine strings, spices, and that old-world charm. History buffs can loop in Srirangapatna (Tipu Sultan’s legacy), the temple lacework of Somnathpur, and the bird-bustling isles of Ranganathittu. Come Dasara, the city glows like a memory you’ll swear you lived before.

Bengaluru is a conversation—between rain and sunshine, tradition and startups, English and Kannada. It’s where you learn to keep an umbrella, a hoodie, and hope in the same backpack. Drop by with curiosity; leave with a playlist of thunder, laughter, and the clink of steel tumblers.

This is home. Welcome.
